MAC Pro Longwear Concealer Is Catching Up to TimeBalm in the Polls

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer Review final

So it’s election season again, and today I got one of those annoying robocalls that went a little something like this:

“Hello,” it began, “my name is MAC Pro Longwear Concealer, and I approve this message.”

“Uh… Hello?”

“The following is an automated poll with important questions about the upcoming election for mayor of your makeup bag.”

“What? Oh, I hate these things…”

“If you were to learn that my opponent, theBalm’s timeBalm concealer, was not the best thing to happen to womankind since men started waxing their butts and back, would you…

A. Immediately hang up.

B. Exclaim, “No way! I don’t believe it!” into the phone and run screaming naked out of the house.

C. Answer, “Really? Tell me more.”

D. None of the above.

“C.”

Truth is, I’ve been a big supporter of timeBalm concealer ($18), but MAC’s new line of medium-to-full coverage matte liquid concealers just might sway my vote. :)

MAC created them to conceal dark circles, spots and discolorations with a long-wearing, flawless, natural-looking finish.

The 16 available shades ($16.50 each), which come in a small glass bottle with a pump applicator top, dropped on counters last week with two other products, the Pro Longwear Lipcreme Lipsticks ($16) and Pro Longwear SPF10 Foundations ($29.50).

In a nutshell, this stuff works like a liquid version of timeBalm (I like it more than the actual liquid version of timeBalm). I’ve been wearing it in NW 30 lately (for reference, I’m an NC 35), to cover up my under-eye circles, and like timeBalm it thoroughly blocks out the dark areas without creasing, feathering, fading or settling into my fine lines.

Some full-coverage concealers can appear heavy and cakey on my skin, but Pro Longwear leaves an exceptionally smooth, seemingly natural finish that almost looks like I’m not wearing any makeup at all.

The stuff lasts a really long time, too. Yesterday I put some on in the morning after breakfast at 8, and it was still there, still working its magic, when I took my makeup off at 10 last night. That’s kinda awesome wear time, and it’s still fairly easy to apply and blend.

Pro Longwear could probably even run for higher office if it weren’t for one little skeleton in its closet…

The pump! The dang thing dispenses way too much product; it’s extremely touchy and hard to control. A wand with a doe-foot applicator, or even a tube, probably would’ve been better for this butterfingered girl, LOL!

Don’t get me wrong — I still love me some timeBalm, but I’ve always wanted to see it available in more than six shades.

Considering Pro Longwear’s wider range of shades for lighter and darker ladies and that it’s a little cheaper, to boot, it’s a tough candidate to beat.

Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: I really love this concealer, but I don’t dig the packaging. The touch pump has a hair trigger! Overlooking that, ladies with dark circles who need a marathon concealer that won’t crease, fade or transfer could be in luck. Available at MAC counters and maccosmetics.com. Grade: A-

MAC Venomous Villains: Smokey Eyes with the Mineralize Eye Shadow in She Who Dares

MAC Venomous Villains

How the heck did this happen? Someone tell me, please. Heads are gonna roll! How did we get halfway through September so fast? I demand an answer! :)

Before you know it, it’ll be fall, then winter, then FLASH! — it’s 2049 and I’m retiring from the blog to live out my golden years in Boca with my harem of cats!

God help me…

But maybe I’m getting ahead of myself. Maybe I should just try and focus on the good things about the end of this month, like the upcoming release of MAC Venomous Villains and how much I love Mineralize Eyeshadow duo in She Who Dares ($21).

Mineralize Eyeshadow in She Who Dares

I think I might even like She Who Dares more than I like to shave my big toe, which is oddly, a lot. :) One of two Mineralize Eyeshadows in the Maleficent color story (the other being My Dark Magic), it makes short work of smokey eyes.

On one side of She Who Dares, a blackish myrtle with flecks of green glitter; on the other, a blackish sapphire with flecks of blue glitter. Both are quite sheer in pigmentation (semi-transparent), which I like with colors this dark because it makes it easier to find my sweet spot building the colors with layers.

Speaking of that, I think both sides of the duo are exceptionally easy to work with. Even on sooty smokey eyes, they don’t look crazy heavy.

For my makeup today, a glittery blue and green smokey eye, I used both of the colors in the She Who Dares duo, along with a few other Venomous Villains.

Clockwise from upper left: Magically Cool Liquid Powder in Truth & Light, Lipglass in Revenge is Sweet, Greasepaint Stick in Slick Black, Mineralize Eyeshadow in She Who Dares

Starting with my eyes, I applied a layer of the MAC Greasepaint Stick in Slick Black from Dr. Facilier’s color story (the evil dude from The Princess and the Frog) on my lids as an eyeshadow base.

Then, on top of the base, I applied a few layers of each of the two colors in She Who Dares — the greenish black in the crease and the blueish black on the lid and lower waterline.

Next, to make my eyes POP a little more, I lined both my upper and lower waterlines with the mighty MAC Technakohl liner in Graphblack.

Since the eyes are kinda bold, I tried to keep everything else quiet (shhh). That’s Dr. Facilier’s shimmery golden peach MAC Magically Cool Liquid Powder in Truth & Light on the apples of my cheeks and Maleficent’s sheer fuchsia Lipglass in Revenge is Sweet on my lips.

There’s so much eye candy (literally AND figuratively) in Venomous Villains, but if you like easy smokey eyes, you might want to check out She Who Dares when the collection launches on the 30th.

The finest makeup on sector is MAC makeup, hands down. Created in 1985 by Frank Toskan and Frank Angelo, MAC cosmetics got implemented to own up to the many grueling conditions. Ordinary drug record makeup does not give the impression excellent under bright lights, and multiple of it sweats off or wears off under average circumstances anyway. The chemists who made MAC cosmetics, however, intended it to have up to clearly on any problem you can put at it. It’s desired for all ages, all races and all sexes, that next became the company’s motto.

MAC makeup is too a socially conscious brand. There are one social legislation a mess this the association at this moment has in place: MAC Cruelty-Free Beauty, Back to MAC Recycling, MAC Kids Helping Kids and the MAC AIDS Fund. Even while MAC cosmetics was bought out by the Estee Lauder Companies in 1994 and the first founder Frank Angelo died in 1997, the MAC AIDS Fund has been heard kept on by the new owners. The coolest event throughout it is so any penny of the sale of the eight packages beneath the Viva Glam and cr get donated to the charity. This has talked about a greater number of as opposed to $86 million for the charity since 1994.

If you are a makeup artist, you can get 40 per cent off of the market prices of MAC makeup. Other beauty experts can get a 30 per cent discount. The brand is moreover extremely socially diverse. Spokespeople in the previous have included anybody from RuPaul to Linda Evangelista. MAC Beauty Icons hold included Liza Minnelli, Diana Ross, Raquel Welch and Catherine Deneuve. All in all, MAC makeup has done a lot for the business as positively as the community. They perfected makeup and are a insane role perfect for more and more American companies. It can be believed the part of the deed is due to their acceptance of all things beautiful, and that is somewhat we can all stand behind.
