How to get a natural look with your makeup

Applying makeup is one of those things that all of us need a little help with. Applying it so that you look flawless and natural at the same time is the aim for most people. However getting right is not always that easy. The aim of this article is to give you some advice and tips on how to achieve that natural look.

When giving you advice we will split everything into sections so that you can take each bit at a time and then perfect it.

1. Foundation Base

The first thing to get is a light foundation that matches your skin tone. When buying it you should check it on the jaw line area and make sure you check it in natural light.

Use a slightly damp sponge to apply the foundation evenly over your skin and then use your fingers to carefully blend the foundation in around the jaw line and hair line. You should then use a concealer to cover up any dark circles or blemishes you have in your skin. It is best to apply the concealer and then gently tap it with your finger until it blends in. If you rub it there is a good chance you will rub it away.

Finally finish your face with some loose translucent powder. Dip a large brush into the powder and shake off any excess. Gently apply your powder over your face in order to fix your foundation.

2. Cheeks

It is important to apply a neutral coloured blusher. May people want to leave this bit out but it will help to add colour to your face. In addition, well applied blusher will help to make you look less tired and generally just brighten you up. Apply this will a good quality brush up and out from the apple of your cheeks. Gently blend with your fingers.

3. Eyes

When doing your eyes you should start with the eyeliner. Use black or brown eyeliner according to your colouring to make sure it looks natural. This should be applied along the upper lid and on the lower lid from the outer corner to the middle of the eye. Use a cotton bud to blend the eyeliner. This will help to reduce the harshness of the liner and make it look more natural.

Now you should move on to the eye shadow. You should start with a light vanilla coloured eye shadow and apply it over the whole eyelid, right up to the eyebrow. Now use a light brown eye shadow and apply this on the crease of the eye and the outer corner. Again you should use your fingers to blend the darker eye shadow in.

Finally move on to the mascara. Again to keep this more natural you should use a brown-black colour as this will be less harsh. Remember to curl your eyelashes first to open up your eye. Apply 2 light coats to both the upper and lower lashes. This will be enough to emphasise your eyelashes but will still look natural.

4. Lips

The final thing to do is to apply a lipstick. You are best to use a natural tone, for example a light pink or brown that matches your lip colour. You can either apply a lipstick and then add some clear gloss over the top or you can use a natural tone tinted lip gloss.
